How does the leadfree conversion process work?

It is a complex electro-chemical process. Please refer to the attached flowchart.

How does this process impact functionality and quality of the part and is there any known failure rate?

The conversion process does not damage the components as they are handled with utmost care and ESD pre-caution. But due to unpacking and repacking issues, around 1-2 % of ICs will be lost. We are constantly improving the yield as we are mastering the process.

What soldering temperature has to be used once the parts are converted?

The soldering temperature has to be adjusted to leadfree soldering.

Is there any special testing required afterwards?

From our experience we don't suggest any additional tests.

Are there any other problems to be expected?

Beside the mechanical lead deformation of a very small quantity of components we have not encountered any other
problems.

What kind of certificates supports the process?

We can provide official documents such as SGS certificates if required.

Are there any additional certificates available?

We do not provide any documents by default but we can provide any certificates that the customer requests.

What is the expected MOQ?

Min 1,000 pcs. per type.

What components can be converted?

Any!

What packages can be processed?

Any!

What is the minimum order value?

We expect a min. of 5.000 USD per order.

What is the conversion cost and how does it depend on volume and pckaging?

The price ranges from USD 0.2 to 2.0 per piece, depending of packaging and lot quantity. Exact quotes can be provided once we know the accurate volume and packaging.

How long is the leadtime?

Around 2 - 4 weeks, depending on volume and capacity.
